How to Get Great Skin Q & A

Q. How do I get great skin?

A.  To start with great skin, let’s start with the natural function of the skin.  1st rule to great skin, DON'T MESS WITH YOUR NATURAL BODY CHEMISTRY.  It's there for a reason and it's the biggest contributor to keeping not only your skin looking great, but it is part of your natural immune system.

Q. What is my natural body chemistry?

A.  Your skin is naturally healing, cleansing and protecting.  Working with those natural functions will promote good skin, working against them creates big skin problems.  The skin's natural acid mantel protects the body from germs and bacteria.  When the acid mantel is compromised we are at risk for not only acne and blackheads but colds, flus and viruses as well.

Q.  How can I support my acid mantel?

A.  Choose products that work with the acid mantel not against it.  Don't use products that "strip" the skin, leaving the skin tight and dry.  Products that do not rinse easily and completely from the skin will clog the pores and block the production of the natural oils that create our acid mantel.  If you're not sure about your skin care products and how well they are working with your skin's Ph, visit your local Esthetician and get a Woods Lamp reading.  This lamp will show either open clear pores, or neon orange clogged pores that indicate your skin care products are working against you.

Q.  What if I use products that don't clog the pores, but I still break out with large painful pimples?

A.  If this is your problem, then it's time to do an internal cleansing.  The body rids toxins from any means available to it.  This includes the oil and sweat glands.  A natural colon cleanse and checking out Candida will most likely bring your body back into balance.

Q.  What is Candida?

A.  Candida is a naturally occurring yeast that is present in all our bodies and it is supposed to be there in balance with many other microorganisms.  The problem begins when several factors in our lifestyle cause the Candida to grow in outstanding numbers and it overtakes all of the other healthy microorganisms.

Candida symptoms are vast and all encompassing and can even incapacitate the individual.  Candida is nearly an epidemic in our society and is responsible for many of the chronic illness categories we see so frequently.  Most people are unaware that it even exists, because most main stream doctors are uneducated about its impact on our health.  People suffering from Candida often go from doctor to doctor for years and are usually told they are a hypochondriac or that it is stress or a psychiatric problem, before ever discovering the real culprit.

Q.  How often should we cleanse?

A.  The actual answer is "when you are dirty".  To expand on that, a baby does not need to be bathed unless something has caused the need for washing such as spit up, poop, spills, food on face, dirt on hands, etc.  You don't need to wash your children just because you feel they need a daily cleansing.  The more you cleanse using detergents (soaps) and anti-bacterial cleansers, the more you remove your baby’s natural protection from the outside world.  With a strong natural acid mantel the body will receive just enough bad bacteria to keep the immune system strong, not weak.

The same is true as we get older, except we are more likely to put things on our skin.  Sunscreen, moisturizers, make-up, etc, have to be removed, but gently, trying not to totally destroy the acid mantel.  If we put nothing on our skin and did not roll in dirt or mud, we would not need to wash very often.  The skin would take care of itself.
